Help your clients implement succession plans and become an institutional custodian — without ever having access to client data.
The opportunity
Digital succession planning attracts clients with sophisticated needs — and the means to act on such needs.
Custody services generate annual fees per client — predictable, long-term revenue that grows with your practice.
Clients who need custody often need help with taxation, inheritance planning and more.
The workflow
Client creates set of encrypted QR code backups called a blockset — distributes blocks among heirs, vaults and operators.
Learn more →Using Superbacked for operators app on iPhone or iPad, operator scans a single block from client blockset — without ever seeing passphrase or client data.
Block reaches operator already encrypted using client passphrase. Operator then seals encrypted block using operator key — neither operator nor Superbacked can ever see client data, exceeding attorney-client privilege compliance.
Sealed block is uploaded to Superbacked cloud and physical block can be destroyed or stored in a secure location. Sealed blocks are georeplicated across Montreal (Canada) and Stockholm (Sweden).
Zero-knowledge
Secure enclave of iPhone or iPad stores operator key — a hardware-isolated chip that protects keys at rest.
Recovery requires both provisioned iPhone or iPad and operator Face ID or Touch ID. Neither alone is sufficient.
Operators choose one of three schemes per block: operator-only gives operator full control over recovery process, Superbacked-authorized requires approval from Superbacked team or time-delayed only allows retrieval after waiting period.
Recovery can be restricted to specific location — geofenced to office or other secure location so operator cannot be forced to initiate recovery or retrieve block from insecure location.
No blocks, no fees
